Mdm Azrin Md Kasim: A Catalyst for Research Excellence at Universiti Malaya

Mdm Azrin Md Kasim, a dedicated research officer (Q44) at Universiti Malaya (UM), plays a pivotal role in elevating the university's research landscape. Her expertise in data management, particularly in coordinating and compiling data reporting for the Malaysia Research Assessment (MyRA®), is instrumental in ensuring UM's research performance aligns with national standards.

 

As an assistant to the MyRA® task force at the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (MOHE) level, Mdm Azrin is committed to enhancing the quality of research conducted by UM researchers. She contributes to developing strategies for promoting research excellence and innovation by analysing research outputs such as awards, publications and research grants.

 

Mdm Azrin's team diligently collects and compiles data from various departments at UM, providing invaluable insights for the MyRA® task force. This data-driven approach enables the university to identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement, ultimately leading to a more impactful research agenda.

 

Recognising the importance of research promotion and visibility, Mdm Azrin emphasises the need to raise public awareness of UM's research activities. By showcasing the work of researchers to potential investors and funders, the university can attract vital resources to support groundbreaking and innovative projects. Mdm Azrin also advocates for comprehensive training and support programs to equip researchers with the skills necessary to effectively communicate their research to a diverse audience.

She is currently involved in a few projects from various funders such as Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (MBPJ) and Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (MOHE), further transitioning her passion and commitment into more hands-on research to advancing knowledge and innovation.
